Out of 343 applications from 42 countries, altogether 49 singers participated in the VI Mirjam Helin Internationl Singing Competition.
The contestants represented 17 countries from all continents. The competitors included 4 coloratura sopranos, 15 sopranos, 6 mezzo-sopranos, 3 countertenors, 6 tenors, 8 baritones, 3 bass-baritones and 4 basses.
