The Jury of the VI Mirjam Helin International Singing Competition has decided to select 20 singers for the Semifinals to be held at the Sibelius Academy Concert Hall on August 8-9.

In the Semifinals the competitors will sing Finnish music, a group of solo songs and
an aria as follows:
1. A song by a Finnish composer
2. A group of solo songs (lasting 15-20 minutes)
3. An opera or concert aria
The total duration will be 30 minutes.
Semifinals live on Finnish radio and TV
YLE Klassinen and YLE Areena will be covering the Semifinals live on radio and
television, respectively, at 11.00 and 18.00 on August 8 and 9. There will also be
two daily reportages on YLE Radio 1 on both competition days, with repeats the
following day. YLE Teema will be broadcasting a round-up survey of the Semifinals at 19.25 on August 11.
Taking part in the VI Mirjam Helin International Singing Competition are 49 young
singers. The Preliminary Round on August 3-8 will be followed by the Semifinals on
August 8-9 and the Final on August 12.
The Mirjam Helin Competition is one of the world's leading singing competitions.
Famous for its high standard, demanding repertoire and prestigious Jury, it is
organised by the Finnish Cultural Foundation once every five years.
